The Fundamental of Texture Painting
These are more resistant to dirt and chemical which gives them an extra edge over their traditional counterparts. In terms of composition, it does not have anything special other than a few basic chemicals and compounds adding which makes the paint a lot stronger.
In case you are planning to paint your residence, the best time to go ahead with such a project is the mid summers. Particularly, in case of exterior painting, summers are obviously the best time of the year to get the job accomplished. During the warmer seasons, the temperature is a lot higher which helps paints to dry faster which is not the case during the other times of the year.
Coming to texturing paints, it is done before the paint is applied on the wall. A second level texture is done on the walls while application of the paints. Coming to the process of texturing, it is nothing but a process of thickening the paint using silica sand and a few other alloys and chemicals. Sand being porous makes the wall surface husky and prevents the gathering of dust particles on the walls. The latex paint is taken and around 4-6ounches of silica sand is added to it. The mixture is stirred with a flat wooden paint stick. With addition of a greater volume of silica sand, the texture will get increasingly coarser.
The application of texture paint is simple as well but it demands a reasonable craftsmanship to be applied uniformly over the surface of the wall. In the beginning, a base coat of paint is applied to the wall. After it dries completely, another coating of paint is applied over the base coat using a glaze. The wet glaze is pressed with a rag or a cotton cloth to get most of the glaze removed. The same process is continued randomly throughout the wall surface. After this is done, a comb is chosen depending on user preferences followed by combing through the glaze from top to bottom of the wall.
The next step is to get the walls sponged. To achieve the same, one needs to cut a piece of sponge into an innovative shape or purchase a piece of sponge with a pre designed odd texture. The base paint is applied as normal. The sponge is slowly pressed onto the paint starting from one corner of the wall. The same process is continued throughout the surface of the wall.
Tips: -
* Texturing can be a time consuming process. So, people willing to complete the painting process in a shorter time span can purchase pre mixed texture paint from the local departmental or hardware shops.
* Before applying texture paint on the walls, test the method on a piece of cardboard to be sure that the method adopted is perfect.
* Allow the paint to dry completely in every level before applying the next coat.
Precautions: -
* Texture paint fumes can be toxic. So, make sure that the rooms are well ventilated.
* Ensure that the walls are properly cleaned before applying the paints. Paint will never stick to the wall surface unless the surface is totally smooth and clean.
