Home Remedies of Ear Infection, Simple Yet Effective
An ear infection can be of two different kinds depending on what part of the ear has been affected by the infection. If the infection is close to the middle ear, then it is called Otitis media. It is very common among small babies and children. Otitis Externa is caused when the external part of the ear catches the infection and it is also known as Swimmer's Ear. It must be realised that ear infections are not contagious; however, ignoring or neglecting them for a long time can cause a lot of problems in the future. Therefore, it is good to cure it as soon as possible to avoid further complications.
Some of the common symptoms of ear infection include slight hearing problem, mild fever and a vomit-ish feeling, some kind of discharge from the ear, slight pain, constant itchiness and inflammation etc. To deal with these problems, there are some home remedies which are quite effective in nature.
Application of a little garlic juice on the infected area helps to heal the ear faster. Frequent application for a few days kills the infection, and though it may lead to a little burning sensation, it is quite helpful in treating the problem.
When suffering from ear infection, the person can also apply olive oil every night before going to sleep. It helps to soothe the inflammation and cures the infection.
Diet should be altered in such a manner that you include a lot of calcium rich foods in it, along with foods that are rich in Vitamin C as well as Zinc. Foods which have a lot of oil content, and processed foods too should be avoided. In case of infants having ear infection, the mother should only focus on Breast Feeding.
Colloidal Silver is a natural antibiotic. Therefore, washing the ear with it frequently can also help to reduce the infection and treat it. Also, the juice of mango leaves can be used as ear drops.
It is essential to ensure that the patient does not touch the ear constantly and does not fiddle with it. Kids have a tendency to touch their ear and then touch their eyes and face. Parents must constantly keep a watch over this and must ensure that their kids do not do this.
You can also heat a cup of salt in the microwave for around 2-3 minutes, and can then put it in a clean cotton cloth or a sock. Keep this close to your ear every night, and this will help to reduce any kinds of swelling that might have occurred because of the infection.
A little bit of warmed onion juice can also be put inside the ear daily for relief. It will help to cure the infection in a few days.
In cases of extreme pain or discomfort, it is always advisable to constantly get things diagnosed from a doctor. Home remedies will definitely help to reduce the pain and treat the infection. But any complication should not be ignored, and one should always check with an expert.
