Media News Reflection of War on Terror
These days Media News focused on war, on terror is an ideology that seeks to defeat the primordial forces of terrorism especially militant Islamists and al-Qaeda. President George Bush was the first American leader who enunciated the war on terrorism as a global online press release campaign to eliminate the forces of terror and the regimes, which covertly or overtly support the militant Islam.
It’s a global military, political, legal and ideological Media News battle launched by the United States, United Kingdom and NATO allies. Now the war on terrorism is an international agenda for press release submission service with more than 90% of UN members demanding a stronger role in the world body.
There is no well defined enemy in the war on terrorism, so the critics of the war argue that the struggle against terror has become a weapon in the hands of the great powers to pursue their hidden agendas. Though Osama Bin Laden, who became the international face of terror through media news may be no more, but the idea of militant jihad that he started in 1996 continues to inspire hundreds across the globe, giving the impression that the war on terrorism is a battle of minds which may have to be fought in the realm of politics of online press releases to overcome the forces of violence and hatred.
War on terrorism has changed the way the military force was used in traditionally conducted wars. The 9/11 attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Centre reported by online press releases for the first time brought in non state actors as the enemy in what is called as the ethical theory as just war tradition. Till then the war was fought between the nations for “ jus ad bellum” in which the military response was justified as a last resort of the aggrieved nation. The war also has to be “just in Bello” - the conduct of the warring nations has to be just as well.
War on terrorism is now determined more by how the terrorist attacks are perceived by the victim described in media news, who then depending upon the ability to respond will go about the targets of the aggressors and their supporters of the enemy.
“Terrorism is a senseless, illegitimate and detestable violence against the innocents,” writes an eminent writer on online press releases featured on social media. The victimized nations that face the brunt of illegitimate attacks on their subjects want to identify the terrorists and their accomplices whom they consider as their targets. The moral dimension of war demands that targets and the states that we hold responsible are accurate and certain. War on terror then goes beyond the domains of law enforcement to military operations that use media news as propaganda machine.
Is the action reasonable and proportionate? Can a victim of the nation go about the war on terrorism without as much as defining ethical consideration in media news of the war on terror as done in the case of just war? When in the process of exterminating a single terrorist cell across the Pakistan, a US drone goes about obliterating the entire town as reported by press release submission services the questions raised are one of the human cost of the war on terror. The elimination of moral principles of the war will completely take away whatever little justness from the war on terrorism. War in ethics has an ideal outcome attached to it.
