Author: greenhorizons | Posted: 23.07.2012You all might have seen you grandma growing basic need plants and vegetables in the garden. It was considered important because by doing so one could easily get home grown fresh eatables every day. At that stage did you ever imagine that technology will have impact of traditional ways of gardening as well? But yes, it has done so and the result is hydroponics.
It is used to grow plants with the help of water and hydroponic nutrients instead of using soil. Plants are kept dipped into the mineral solutions which uniformly distributes nutrients to the roots and the other parts of the plant.
This method has several advantages over traditional way of plantation. It can be automated using timers and monitoring apparatus that allows the owner not to worry about irrigating the plants. Sterile substrate is used hence there is no fear of weeds, soil borne diseases and pests. The quality and yield of food grown hydroponically is much higher.
Earlier while irrigating the plants, lot of water used to get evaporated and very less nutrients were delivered to the plant parts. Hence it was a sure wastage. On the other side, in case of hydroponics, once the required amount of energy is fetched by the plants, the same water can be recycled again and again many times.
San Diego Hydroponic Store allows you to buy special products that can be used in hydroponic system. These are composed of several minerals such as:
1. Macro Nutrients that are needed by the plants in large quantity such as Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), Calcium (Ca), Sulfur (S) and Magnesium (M).
2. Micro Nutrients that are needed in minor amounts such as Boron (B), Chloride (CI), Copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), Molybdenum (Mo) and Zinc (Zn).
With the passage of time this technology is gaining more and more popularity. The pure quality products that are obtained as the result are seeking attention of lots of customers. Looking at the demand, several companies have started manufacturing products that can be used in it.
