There are few steps to follow for vacuuming out a pool. You will come across different kinds of filtration systems that will help you vacuum and backwash your pool filter like sand filters and cartridge filters.

To begin with, the process of vacuuming and backwashing your pool filters, you are required to turn off the skimmers as given on pipes. Now, attach the vacuum head to the vacuum hose. In order to avoid any loss of prime, place the adapter in the skimmer only after the hose has been properly flooded with water. In some of the skimmers, you will be able to attach the hose only after removing the basket, so make sure that you do follow this step. The best manner in which you can remove the trapped air from the line is by holding the vacuum line with one of its ends over the return port. The process of vacuuming your pool filters is very important so make sure that you follow the correct procedure slowly and carefully.

Now, remove the vacuum equipment after the hose has been disconnected from the skimmer and switch off the pump. Now, both the skimmer and hair baskets need to be cleaned. Set the filter on the “backwash” setting and switch on the pump. Continue with this process till you get clear water on the filter’s sight glass. After switching off the pump set the filter at “rinse” and then run the pump for approximately a minute. Bring the filter to the “filter” setting after switching off the pump. Now, you can use the pool normally after the pump is turned on.
