Cambridge Tours Destinations

When you are visiting Cambridge you might want to take in as many of the sights as possible, without spending a fortune. Perhaps you have decided to stay at one of the cheap Cambridge hotels to keep the cost of your trip to a minimum. For this reason, a tour is perhaps your best option.

There are daily guided tours of the city, some of which are organised by the council. Official guides have blue badges and can take you on a tour, not just of the city, but also of the colleges and university. There are some specialist tours, which focus on things such as scientific aspects of the city, ghosts or general sightseeing tours. The tours run 7 days a week and it is not always necessary to book tickets in advance.

You might opt for a two-hour tour of King’s and Queen’s colleges. The tour guide will tell you about the famous people that have attended the college and who have been connected with the area. Entrance to the colleges is included with the tour, although on occasions, when Queen’s college is closed, visitors will be taken to Trinity College instead.

The Ghost Tours run in the evening and are particularly popular with tourists. The walk lasts for around one-hour and takes place every Friday evening, visiting all the parts of the city where ghosts are reported to have been seen. A punting ghost tour is also available, by candlelight, to add to the spooky effect. It includes a 45-minute walk.
