To avoid air conditioner repairs, it is a good idea to have a qualified technician come out at least twice a year and do a full inspection of the unit itself. They can make any adjustments, and do maintenance on items that are more complicated than DIY stud. While it may cost you a fee for this service, it is far cheaper than losing your AC performance due to negligence.
