Things to Do in Stuttgart

The city of Stuttgart has so much to offer visitors that it can be difficult to decide what to do first.

If you enjoy going to museums and other historical attractions Stuttgart has a large number of both, all of which are within easy reach of many hotels in Stuttgart. For instance, Hegel House was the home of the German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, who was born in the house in 1770. The house contains a small exhibition about the philosopher’s life and works: it is free to enter.

If art is more to your taste then be sure to visit the Staatsgalerie with its comprehensive collection of great works of art. This is a building of architectural interest that has a collection of old and modern art from early times right through to the present day.

For those that enjoy doing something interactive rather than just looking, Stuttgart offers a number of events throughout the year. For example, each August the city hosts an annual wine festival with participating venues right across the city. The Christmas Festival is also a great event not to be missed; whether one simply fancies festive eating, drinking and soaking up the atmosphere, or is looking for that one special present to be purchased from one of the many stalls.

Visiting children are certainly not forgotten about in Stuttgart; they are well catered for. In fact, visitors will be overwhelmed with choice, from zoos to adventure parks. Tripsdrill, for instance, is a dedicated theme park with over 100 very inventive attractions. Whilst the Black Forest Open Air Museum combines fun, culture and history all in one place. Here visitors can learn how people have lived and worked in the Black Forest area over the last 400 years.
