A History of the Laser
The laser can be traced back to the early part of the 20th century when Albert Einstein produced the theoretic foundation for the device. It wasn't until the middle of the century, however, until it was actually put into practice. At that time, it was known that was going to have a significant impact but it was not generally known what it was going to be used for in its specific uses. Since that time, however, the laser has become a big part of our life and it is not only used in areas in which we are familiar with, there many times when it is used in areas that we never really think about. Here are some of the reasons why lasers are used and how they have impacted our lives in many different ways.
The medical industry has made good use of lasers and it uses them in many different ways in order to perform tasks that one time, were done by hand. An example of this is in many different types of surgery, as it produces a precision that is unavailable when it comes to using a scalpel. Even brain surgery makes good use of lasers and there are many lives have been saved as a result of this instrument. Other types of medical uses can be found as well, such as getting rid of tattoos or using it to correct a person's eye sight. In dentistry, it is also used because it is able to get rid of the rotten party relatively painlessly.
In your home, you probably are familiar with the laser because of the electronics that you use regularly. Any time you listen to a CD, you are listening to something that is burned onto a disk using a laser and then read using a laser as well. DVDs and Blu-Ray players also make good use of the laser in order to give us the video and audio at very precise levels. When you compare these items side-by-side with some of them older equipment that was available, there really is no comparison at all.
Corporations also make use of the laser in various types of industry. One of the main ways in which lasers are used is in order to cut, as it offers a precision that is unavailable through more traditional means. In addition to offering the concise laser cutting, it also allows you to have an edge that is very clean as well. Another way that lasers can be used for measurements, as it gives you excellent precision as well.
So as you can see, our lives have really been enhanced by the invention of the laser and the various ways that it is used. As we move on into the future, the laser will continue to be improved upon and the number of instances in which it's used will increase as well. You would probably be surprised with some of the things that are currently on the drawing board that will have an impact on your life as well.
