Six Tips for Jacuzzi Maintenance
Particularly if you're maintaining a Jacuzzi hot tub in Ontario, you'll want to be sure it's ready to go year-round. After all, nobody wants to be out in the snow in their bathing suit trying to add chemicals to the water at the last minute. Regular hot tub maintenance will make it much easier to prepare your tub for use quickly and without a fuss.
Here are six tips to keep your Jacuzzi in fine form in all seasons.
1. Know what your tub should be like.
If your hot tub chemical levels are wrong, correcting them in a hurry is almost impossible. A ClearRay hot tub should have specific chemical levels: 7.4 to 7.8 pH, 1.0 PPM of free chlorine, 2.0 PPM of free bromine, 100-120 PPM alkalinity, and 150-250 PPM calcium hardness.
2. Keep hot tub supplies on hand.If you're not sure what you need to start with, talk to the hot tub dealer about what chemicals you'll need to keep this balance. You will also want hot tub accessories such as a hot tub cover in order to keep the water clear.
3. Test it regularly.
Make sure you check it regularly so you know that your Jacuzzi is ready to go. Use test strips two to three times per week and you'll know what needs to be done, so you can easily tweak it and check it next time. When you're aware of the hot tub condition all the time, you can easily start the party without a fuss.
4. Change your water every few months.
You might not use your hot tub water all the time, but it won't stay germ-free forever. Don't strain your hot tub purification system by constantly changing the water, but don't keep your water around for months on end. Every three to six months, change your water (try to do it in the spring and fall if you have water rationing in the summer).
5. Use your cover regularly.
Even if you're not using the tub for a day, cover it up. A hot tub cover prevents everything from miniscule flecks of dirt to flies from falling into your hot tub! This will keep your tub clean and in pristine condition. If you avoid the cover because it's hard work to get on and off, consider a cover lifter or roller that can take care of it for you. A covered hot tub is also an energy efficient hot tub.
6.Hire a hot tub service provider.
A professional looking over your hot tub is peace of mind, as they can help diagnose any problems before they happen, fix minor parts, check the chemicals, and give you advice on what you should be doing to keep it maintained and in tip-top shape.
