Fun in La Rioja Spain
This wine producing region of Spain is just as beautiful as the rest of the regions in Spain making it worth visiting and even spending some quality time in on a holiday. There is actually a wine that goes with the same name and it is one of the best produced wines of the region specifically in Ebro Valley.
The wine production center is called Haro and it is also famed because of the annual folkloristic event, battle of the wines. It is one of the most fun filled events and you might just get here in time to witness and probably even take part in the amazing event. Wine lovers will most definitely find this area a great attraction during their holiday.
La Rioja also has other major attractions among them the famed Saint James Way. The way also leads to the city and has great monasteries on its path. These monasteries are important and well preserved pieces of art and also hold cultural importance. The first Catilian Spanish text was written here. Still on the Saint James Way there are monumental towns standing in beauty. They include Santo Domingo, Logrono, Calahorra, San Milla and Arnedo. Logrono was founded by Ronans and serves as the capital of the region today.
Tierra de Cameros cannot be missed while in this region. It has interesting caves and grottos and is also home to outstanding beautiful landscapes. La Rioja has varying rural tourism possibilities and you will find it most interesting if you love hiking, climbing, fishing and hunting. Such activities can make any holiday or time spent in the region most enjoyable for those who have passion for them.
La Rioja’s gastronomy is amazing and of course the wine here takes center stage. It has seven wine varieties with three of these being white wine and the rest are red wines. You will also find the traditional delicacy of Pimientos del Piquillo wonderful especially since it is made using sweet red peppers. Other traditional cooking highlights that you will find here include Sierra de Cameros marzipan and lamb. The marzipans have a high reputation in all of Spain.
La Rioja has potential of offering all the fun, pomp and color that most people are looking to get from their holidays. You will however need to ensure that you plan for the holiday well so that you also get in the region during the best times of the year.
