Dunedin city centre has a vast array of shops to suit all tastes and budgets. The main shopping areas are situated close to many Dunedin hotels so finding the best shopping hotspots should be easy. The shopping areas of George Street and Princes Street are always bustling with people and the area has plenty of fashion outlets including designer boutiques.

Malls

The Golden Centre, Wall Street and Meridian Mall are all linked to create a large multi-level shopping experience. It is possible to buy almost everything in the one location. Clothes, home wares and sporting goods are all on offer. There is a large international food court for those who want to enjoy a meal while out shopping too.

Several bookshops in Dunedin are very popular with the local population. Second hand book shops are always busy and one of the favourites is Scribes, which offers an excellent selection of reading materials. Octagon books, which can be found in Moray Place, were once voted the seventh best bookshop in the world.

Farmers Market

Dunedin Railway Station plays host to the Farmers Market every Saturday. It is possible to buy fresh produce such as fruit, vegetables and meat. The market is popular with local people although many visitors to the area enjoy attending the market to grab a bargain.

Gifts

For gifts, ceramics and accessories, Sue Todd Antiques & Collectibles in Princes Street is very popular and it may be possible to find a unique or rare item. Collectible ceramics can be found at specialist shop Broad Bay China on the Otago Peninsula.
