Chester Tours Destinations
Taking a tour is one of the best ways to see the whole city. Quite frequently it can highlight some sights that you may otherwise miss and give you the opportunity to go back and visit them later at your leisure. It means you can visit the places you are more interested in seeing again and miss out those that you are happy visiting just the one time.
An open top vintage bus tour is a wonderful experience for summer visitors to the city. It takes in many of the historical and archaeological sites and operates almost every day. There are several departure times, with tours leaving approximately every 45 minutes. The first tour leaves at 10.00am and the last at 3.00pm and you can pay just as you get on the bus. However, it is advisable to book in advance to ensure you do not miss out on a treat. The tour only takes around a half an hour, but takes in many sights, including Chester Cathedral and Chester Castle.
Walking tours are another great way to see the city of Chester. There are plenty of cheap Chester hotels dotted around the city and all are a good base for walking tours. Strolls along the River Dee are recommended; it is very scenic and relaxing. Alternatively, you can walk the whole perimeter of the city by following the Roman walls. Chester is a fortified city and in fact is the only Roman fortified city that still has its walls intact.
