Despite the growing number of interracial alliances between western men and Chinese girls, there is a faction that believes that Chinese do best with Chinese. They put forth the argument that though mixed relationships are exciting and refreshing, traditional Chinese people are not likely to get involved with foreigners seriously. 1. Gender roles in Chinese society are more defined than in west and the concept of love and its relation to marriage is completely different from ours. Even the concept of beauty and attraction is socially contrived which is naturally different from the western point of view. However, things are changing and rules are breaking down.

2. Most “after 80’s” children who were born into single child regime are spoilt and different from common western idea of traditional Chinese. While there is a large number of fish to choose from, the problem is that they’re pretty much all the same.

3. Although many Chinese girls believe that western men are more likely to be considerate, better providers, and loyal after marriage, they still refuse to trust completely. Their cloistered thinking makes it difficult for them to connect and see eye to eye with their western partner.

4. Most Chinese girls have little exposure of outside world and only understand and love their China. They are highly influenced by the collective consciousness.

5. Obtaining family approval is another roadblock. However, there are always exceptions.

While many mixed couples agree that interracial marriages are difficult, they all agree that such marriages require every moment of your life to learn and grow together, are always curious, without even a single dull moment, are exceptional and magical, and several times more precious and thrilling than any single culture marriage could ever be.
