Writing funeral speech in three simple steps

Eulogy is a speech that is written to praise and talk about anyone, usually deceased. In very simple terms, it can be writing that is filled with words that spill out nothing but emotions. Writing the eulogies is definitely not a very simple task because first, it requires mental strength and second, it should be written in the most appreciative and positive tone. Therefore, while writing this kind of funeral speech, you should follow right tips and suggestions that can help you in delivering the eulogies perfectly.

Funeral speech or eulogies can be written in three steps, i.e., prepare, write and deliver. The entire process of writing is included in these three steps. In the preparation step, you need to gather all the information about the deceased, which includes his age, date of birth, hobbies and interests, educational background etc. After you have gathered all this information, you need to sit and organize it, but first you should only prepare a rough draft. If you can get the pictures of the deceased, it can be very good as well. In order to write the eulogies, you should be mentally prepared more than anything else.

The second step for writing the funeral speech is to write it actually. Information has been gathered, facts have been made correct, pictures have been collected and rough draft has been prepared too. Now is the time to write it actually. You can choose the theme for writing it as well. Funeral speech need not always be in the form of speeches only. They can also be poems or stories that you wish to share. Eulogies can give you fear, first because you need to deliver it through the stage and that too carefully choosing your words and secondly because it is a eulogy! So write it properly and select your words so that they come out naturally and so that you need not make a lot of efforts in delivering them on the stage.

The third and most important step of writing the funeral speech is to practice it. It might be a situation of nervousness initially but as you practice more and more, this nervousness can be eradicated easily. Remember, words should slip out naturally, without efforts and in the most comforting and appreciable tone. You should therefore practice your eulogies before delivering them and can also end it in a continuous form by calling over a friend on the stage.

One of the most important things that should be considered before writing the funeral speech is the length of the writing. Make sure that neither it is too short, nor too long. Short funeral speech gives an impression that you don’t want to speak about the deceased and longer ones can consume the time of other close ones. Therefore keep the length appropriate. Even though it can appear to be simple form of writing, but considering the mental strength eulogies can be absolutely shattering too. So, you should prepare it nicely and practice it properly too.
