Spain is known for its fabulous and colorful festivals. Fun and frolic makes the street roaring with activities. The local fiesta of the small villages of Spain attracts tourists from across the globe. The streets are decorated with flags and other attractive items. Most of the festivals are during the spring season as well as in the summer. The festivals mark the beginning of many concerts and music recitals in various parts of Spain. Saint’s day, harvest festival, Delivery from the moors and many more reasons are there behind these celebrations.

If you are planning for a vacation to Spain, then do check out the local festivals. The enjoyment and jubilation will leave you amazed. On the 19th of March every year, Valencia is a festival wherein the streets, buildings and malls are all illuminated. You could also witness the procession of the paper mache figures during the midnight. There is also a horse fair during the month of May and June, which displays horses of various breeds. Another most notable event that brings in crowd from various parts of Spain and around the world is the International Festival of Music and Dance. This takes place in Granada and you could see the performances of big bands and music groups from different nations. The famous bull fighting takes place between March and October. In September, most of the big and exciting festivals are organized, like the wine festival, harvest festival as well as the autumn festival called Fiesta de Otoño.

Another feature of the Spanish festivals is related to the catholic calendar exclusively. Holy week is one such event, wherein the entire week will give you a glance of their religious aspect. This holy week is also known as Seaman Santa and it lasts till Easter. Floats that depict the religious sentiments and other stories are taken on the streets for the people to witness. Behind this, the penitents will also be following and the local people believe that this is like chasing away all the evil, along with the misdeeds done in that particular year. Many of the festivals are celebrated with music and dance. The Spanish dance as well as music is really soothing to your ears and eyes. The people love parties and bonfire is an integral part of any festival.

Make sure you plan your trip somewhere around the festive season, so that you bring back some really wonderful moments spent at Spain during your vacation.
