Corbett National Park– a Perfect Place for Wildlife Tourism in India

Wildlife tourism is one of the most sought after tourism options available in India. Jim Corbett National Park, established in the year 1921 as Hailey National Park, is one of the best destinations for jungle tourism, nature tourism and ecotourism in the world. It is situated in Nainital district of Indian state of Uttarakhand. It acts as a protected area for the highly endangered royal Bengal tigers of India. Having sub-Himalayan belt geographical and ecological features this park is renowned for rich flora and fauna. The diverse flora of this reserve is represented by about 490 different species of plants and 110 different species of trees. You will find here dense Sal forests. The fauna of this reserve is represented by 50 different species of mammals, 585 species of resident & migratory birds, 33 species of reptiles, seven species of fish, seven species of amphibians, and 37 species of dragonflies.

The reserve is known for having good population of endangered royal Bengal tigers of India. Spotting tigers via a jeep safari in the reserve is very exciting and delightful experience. Tigers are not easily spotted due to the profusion of camouflage in the reserve, although they are plentiful here. Major animals found in this park include tigers, leopards, buffalos, jungle cats, fishing cats, leopard cats, barking deer, sambar deer, hog deer, spotted deer, sloth bear, Himalayan black bear, wild dogs, Indian grey mongoose, goat-antelopes, Chinese pangolins, Indian pangolins, martens, otters, langurs, monkeys, etc. During night sounds of owls and nightjars also can be heard here. In the summer, tourists can easily spot herds of wild elephants in the park. Indian python and crocodiles are also found at this reserve. Indian python found here is a dangerous species that is capable to killing even a deer.

Thus it is but obvious that the reserve has rich flora and fauna. Jeep safari and elephant safari are two most popular and recommended ways to explore the attractions of Corbett National Park India in most enjoyable way.
