These days, train booking can be done within a matter of minutes. The tickets are confirmed in real time. You just need credit/debit card/net banking for payment and get tickets. Here are ways for booking tickets:
You start with registration on the website. Create new user name and password and furnish valid details (email, mobile phone etc)
The next step is finding the trains connecting your nearest station to final destination. You need to choose your location, destination and travel dates. You will be shown a list of express trains on the required route. If looking for faster trains, duronto, shtabdi and rajdhani trains are good options. Duronto is considered to be fastest as it has no stops (unless technical).
Move to train booking booking which can be done by selecting the desired train and clicking on book. A new page will open displaying the train selected and timings. You will need to fill some passenger details like name, age, and berth preference of each passenger. People belonging to special category like senior citizens, defense etc can avail discount on fare and will need to show requisitive proof. A final confirmation page will be shown with train details and fare. If everything is correct, move forward to next step.
You now need to make the payment. There are many viable options available including credit cards, credit card EMI option, and direct debit and cash cards. Make the payment of your preference and ticket confirmation will be shown.
If you have chose i-ticket, tickets will be delivered to the shipping address. If you have chosen e-ticket, take a printout of electronic reservation slip and keep it with you when you board train. You also need to carry ID proof as it is required.
You can use internet enabled mobile phone for train booking. Go to the web address https://www.irctc.co.in/mobile and use the registered user name and password. Once you are logged in, you will see option- book tickets. After clicking it, choose “from” and “to”, travel date, class (AC-3 tier, AC-2 tier, 1st AC, AC Chair Car and Executive Classes etc), quota ( general, tatkal, ladies) and ticket type (eticket or iticket). The available trains on the chosen route will be shown. Select the desired train, add passenger details and confirm the booking. Final quote with details will be shown. Move to the payment gateway and use credit/debit card to make the train booking.
