Things to Do in Luang Prabang

The city of Luang Prabang is well known for its scenic beauty and other attractions. From the cultural and historical to the Lao cuisine and shopping venues, there is something to appeal to every traveller that visits here. No matter which one of the cheap Luang Prabang hotels you stay at, all of them will have information and recommendations for what to see and do when you are visiting the city. Here are a few suggestions:

The Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre: this is a small independent non-profit museum dedicated to the many ethnic cultures that makes up Laos. The centre’s permanent exhibitions are periodically rotated with information given in Lao and English.

Vipassana temple and park: a golden temple that is visible from quite a distance in all directions, the temple and park is a shrine honouring the Buddhists that practice Vipassana meditation.

Sunset on the waterfront: no matter where you choose to walk along or enjoy a meal at, the Mekong Delta is a spectacular sight when the sun is setting. Just pick a spot, sit back and relax, and enjoy the sun setting on the horizon.

Dinner at Lenou's Library: a law student in his late 20s opened this establishment as a lending library in order to help the local community, who have limited access to books. However, for a few pounds sterling, Lenou will put together a home-cooked meal, complete with drinks, to eat at the library. If you enjoy Laotian and Southeast Asian cuisine, this is a must-visit venue. Lenou also welcomes donations of books.
