What Port Blair is best known to be is the capital of Andaman and Nicobar - a Union Territory of India located in the Bay of Bengal. However, this former colonial island city is surrounded by wonderful waters of Bay of Bengal and various Virgin Islands, and hence is a popular tourist spot in India. Once a famous British Colony, Port Blair was obscure for travelers for many years, even from India. But nowadays, it has become a prominent destination for eco-tourism enthusiasts not only from India but also the entire globe. With verdant natural beauty, loads of adventures and attractive historical sites, the city is truly a place to be. Visit to Port Blair simply means a wonderful vacation in the true lap of nature.

Port Blair has a detectable past, and played a crucial role in shaping the history of Indian Subcontinent. During the British era, the city was used to punish Indian revolutionists and dangerous criminals. Cellular Jail in the city was previously known as 'Kala Pani' or 'Black Water' where Britishers gave hard punishment to the Indian prisoners. Visit to this place will let you know about those cold-blooded treatments even today. In this place, things to do and see for travelers are inevitably enormous and superb by their own. The town features incredible natural vistas with a number of parks, beaches, national memorials and historical sites being there. Fun-filled activities like snorkeling, scuba-diving, trekking and harbor cruise are also superb. To add more delights to your Andaman trip, you can head on to wonderful Havelock Island, Rangat Island or Karmatang Beach. Dining and shopping here are also the rewarding experiences for travelers to Port Blair. The major sightseeing during port Blair tour include the famous Cellular Jail, Marina Amusement Park, Water Sports Complex, Gandhi Park, Zsi Museum and Chidiya Tapu.

Becoming a premium holiday destination India, this place has seen a massive growth in term of tourism facilities. In the city, one will find a superb range of accommodations to suit the lifestyle and pocket size of each and every traveler. The choice here ranges from the luxury hotels to budget-friendly homes. Besides this, a superb selection of restaurants and nightlife options can be seen in Port Blair where dining & wining is truly a worthwhile experience. The weather in here is awesome throughout the year; however the best time to visit here is between October and March. When packing a travel bag for Port-Blair tour, loose cotton cloths (for summer) and light woolen cloths (for winters) are suggested. Apart from that, beachwear, sunscreen lotion and some dry fruits are other suggested items.

The best way to plan an Andaman tour is to buy a customized Andaman package through a reputed travel agent. Various tour packages are available over Internet, so you just need to visit some reliable travel sites, and choose your most suited Andaman package considering your needs and budget.
