While many people visit the Channel Islands for a relaxing getaway, this does not mean there is not much to do and see during your stay. Spending days basking in the sun on the beautiful beaches is often at the top of the list for most visitors, however, Jersey offers much more. When you get tired of the sun and sand, venture out and see what else this beautiful island has to offer.

There are lots of attractions and activities geared towards families with children and many country walks and sports that appeal to all ages, including some great sports that take place either on the beaches or in the water. There are a number of castles that can be visited, which make for some great outings with children; Grosnez Castle and the Elizabeth Castle are just two of the most popular.

There are art galleries, displaying anything from oil paintings to local arts and crafts. Some of these galleries offer classes for children and adults. In addition, there are numerous local artists just waiting to show off their masterpieces as you walk the charming streets of Jersey.

Jersey is known as an island of flowers, which makes this a great destination for gardeners. With long hours of sunshine and very rich soil, some of the most beautiful gardens in the UK are to be found in Jersey. There are some public gardens that can be visited, as well as an array of private gardens, which are owned by residents.

While you are taking time to decide which of the hotels in Jersey to stay at, be sure to also plan your days so you can take in all that the island has to offer. Once you find your hotel, be sure to go out and get to know Jersey and explore the culture and history it has to offer.
