Welcome to Jaipur-a city with a gracious past and shining present, and perhaps the most beautiful destination in India if historical trance is the matter of concern. The capital of the largest Indian state - Rajasthan, Jaipur is neat and well-planned, and fondly dubbed as the 'Pink City'. This is because the city holds the most of what King Sawai Jai Sing built in 1727 available in a good condition.

Jaipur was planned by a Bengali architect Vidhyadhar Chakravorty, who divided the city into nine blocks and laid down wide-straight streets. The city was then encircled by a formidable wall. This pattern of planning can still be seen in Jaipur while exploring the inner city. Chowkri (block) Sarhad was once a palace dotted with temples, gardens and other royal buildings, while Purani Basti was set aside for residence of courtiers. Businessmen and officials were given the Chowkri Modikhana-Vishveshwarji, and Ghat Darwaja was occupied by merchants and artists. Similarly, all the nine blocks were allotted for different purposes.

A Jaipur tour gives the visitors a wealth of historical monuments to explore, which stand unique with their architectural grandeurs. The City Palace, simple yet impressive in design, elaborate in execution and significant in city's history, is truly a heart-touching ancient attraction in the pink city. Nestled just outside the City Palace, Jantar-Mantar is another must-visit destination with an extra-ordinary collection of astronomical instruments to discover. Amber Fort, Albert Hall Museum and Hawa-Mahal are some another historical gems, which are worth exploring.

If you're on a Jaipur tour, it's almost impossible to avoid its vibrant cultures & cutoms. From surprising traditions & cultures, through local fests & festivals to exotic nightlife, Jaipur has an interesting blend of cultures pertaining to its rich past and arousing modernity. People in city are warm and friendly. One can see them (a lot many who come from nearby villages) in typical Rajasthani dresses - men with turbans and women in ghagra-Choli and traditional Rajasthani ornaments. Jaipur has its own style of dance & music with Ghoomar and Katthak being the popular ones. Apart from that, the city hosts numerous festivals which draw a large number of people from far and wide. Some most alluring fests the city hosts include the Jaipur Litrature Festival, Kite Festival, Ganguar, Paush Dashmi and Elephant Festival.

Shopping and dining avenues in the city are really inspiring. Here, the markets are capacious enough to cater any shopping need. However, they are famous for the finest quality of jewelery, textiles, saris, wood, stone, metal and leather items. For food lovers, Jaipur tour is always a blissful journey. Most of the cuisines are enriched with ghee, mawa and dry fruits and delicious in taste. Some of its famous dishes are Mawa Kachori, Dal-Bati Churma, Chakke Ki Sabji, Rabri and Makke ki roti etc. Accommodations and transport facilities are also impressive in this Rajasthan capital city. Nowadays, planning for Jaipur travel is quite easy with many tour companies offering customized Jaipur packages online.
