Brisbane Things to Do
Whilst in Brisbane there are a number of activities and things to do, meaning you will never be bored during your stay there. It is advisable to research and plan ahead on where and what you are going to visit to get the most out of your trip. Planning is easy to do, especially because many hotels in Brisbane are located within the Central Business District.
Brisbane has many museums and heritage sites that you can visit. Colonial Brisbane Heritage Walk is a 90-minute walk that takes you on a journey through the streets of Brisbane. During the trip, you will visit 21 historical sites. As the tour is self-guided, there is a podcast that accompanies you on your tour, which can be downloaded from the Department of Public Works website.
Commissariat Store is a wonderful museum that houses a number of artefacts charting the history of Brisbane, in particular its convict history. This is a great place for both local and international tourists to visit.
For a break away from the busy hustle and bustle of city life, visit Brisbane Botanic Gardens, which is an oasis of calm within the busy city. There are many different wildlife species to spot there. The park also features regular horticultural, and art and craft shows.
Within the city centre itself, there is Albert Street Literary Walk, which follows a trail of 32 brass plaques inserted into the pavement. Take a wander to ANZAC Square, and enjoy looking at the immaculately and well-groomed landscape.
