Many professional photographers work as a commercial photographer and as an architectural photographer and some will also take photos for PR, education, industry and for private clients who want portraits capturing. A commercial photographer is likely to have lots of experience working with commercial clients and taking photographs for many different commercial areas. The common types of work that a commercial photographer will be booked for are for advertising and promotional purposes, display, magazines, catalogues, for online media and online e-commerce sites, for newspapers, for corporate booklets and literature, for packaging and many other commercial purposes. With the rise in internet shopping and more businesses selling goods via the internet many of them are looking for a commercial photographer to take high quality photos of their products to put on their websites so customers can clearly see the goods for sale.

Companies will tend to book a Commercial Photographer as and when they need then but companies who require a commercial photographer on daily basis may have a long term contract in place to secure other services. It is common practice for a commercial photographer or an architectural photographer to work with a number of different clients at any one time. The aim of a commercial photographer and an architectural photographer is to transform everyday items such as retail products or buildings and make them look eye-catching and exciting so they capture people’s attention. With the use of lighting and various other techniques a commercial photographer can achieve this so the client’s images look stunning whether they are for display, publication, promotion or presentation purposes.

An architectural photographer will capture images of buildings, developments, construction, civil engineering, manufacturing and anything else that relates to architecture that clients require photographs of. A commercial photographer and an architectural photographer are likely to be very flexible and may be happy to undertake any kind of photographic work for both private and commercial clients who require their services.
