Global Warming- the Inevitable Disaster of the World

By Mark Bennett Subscribe to RSS | February 14th 2012 | Views:

Global Warming is one of the environmental threats that you may find hard to avoid. This threat will not go away unless a decisive plan or action is taken. The uncountable damage that global warming does every year is unthinkable and beyond the human control.

Just recently, I watched a documentary about global warming on my Time Warner TV. In the documentary, the former Vice president of US, Al Gore talks about the effects of global warming. He gives a brief description of how the climate is changing and how the life form on the Earth is enduring this disaster.

Seriously, global warming is not a thing that has to be taken lightly. With the rate at which the effects of global warming are increasing, you may see the earth filled with lifeless life forms. One thing you all know is that with global warming comes the changes in temperature. Due to global warming, the temperature is increasing at such a rate (even though it is slow) that within 100 years the entire glaciers will melt and the Earth will be filled with water.

Shocking! Well! It is true. During global warming, the earth’s temperature rises up because of greenhouse gases. These greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and methane) trap the heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere. This naturally increases the temperature which leads to climate changes.

Recently, scientists at the NASA released a video which showed the rise in the temperature over a span of 130 years. The video shows a clear pattern of seasonal temperature changes along with momentary spikes throughout the centuries. Besides that the video also shows that only recently the temperature in most regions of the world has started to really peak.

In fact, since 2000 many of us have experienced nine of the ten warmest years, which you can say is a record. And the researchers have noted that within the past 11 years, temperatures were significantly hotter than in the middle and late 20th century. For instance, the average temperature globally in 2011 was 0.92 degrees F warmer than baseline temperatures in the mid-20th century. While the majority of scientists at NASA don’t expect temperatures to rise consistently year after year, but they do expect those figures to continue climbing over decades with extreme temperatures predicted in the next two to three years due to increased solar and other environmental activities.

Frankly, global warming is one environmental phenomenon that is hard to ignore. You could have a catastrophe that would be hard to avoid. Just imagine the disaster that could take place. If you have watched the movies ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ and ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still”, you would know what I mean. Those scenes and the natural disasters that take place in these movies could be real. Many people will think of it as a gag, but you shouldn’t take it lightly. This uncongenial disaster could just sweep you right off your feet that within moments you won't know what has happened.

Everything will happen in seconds that you won’t get the time to react. You will be trying to save the lives of yourself and loved ones. But the ultimately the question that could come to your mind is can this be avoided. Sometimes you may feel that it is late, but it is not. Even though the process of global warming is happening even now as you are reading this article; it is never too late. You can take preventive measure to avoid this catastrophe. As a proverb says ‘It is much better than now rather than later’. You could try to do something now rather than regretting about it later
