Electric Hydraulic Pumps - Facts and Features
Hydraulic pumps are very popular and common these days, owing to their wide range of applications and uses. It consists of a piston in a cylinder which exerts pressure on a hydraulic fluid that transmits the force to another piston which in turn performs certain meaningful operation. There are two kinds of hydraulic pumps: manual pumps and electric pumps, which employ hydraulic power unit for its functioning.
The main task of hydraulic pump is converting to convert one energy type (electricity or gasoline) into another one, namely fluid force. There are three kinds of hydraulic electric pumps that are used in the market:
• Gear pumps
• Vane pumps
• Piston pumps
All the above mentioned hydraulic pumps are also known as positive displacement pumps. The function of a positive displacement pump is to transfer an amount or set of hydraulic fluid from a reservoir, container or tank to another pressurized hydraulic system. It is then transferred to a mechanical unit where the same pressure gets converted into a mechanical force.
A hydraulic power pack is one of the major components of hydraulic pumps, and they seem to be delicate systems if their interior is considered. One has to take proper care of these pumps and handle them with delicacy. If any amount of debris, dirt or water gets mixed with the hydraulic fluid, then it can prove to be detrimental for the seals, valves and gauges that are placed inside, and can get adversely affected and damaged. Due to this reason, almost all hydraulic systems have been supplied with an additional filtration facility to keep the fluid clean and free from any unwanted substances.
In the market, hydraulic pumps occupy an important position, especially in the manufacturing sector. Due to their durability and controllability, they are considered as ideal pump for working in a dirty environment.
