Mono crystalline Panels
This kind of panel is the costliest and most effective form used today. It uses the purest crystalline silicon cut from its raw state. When the wafers are cut from them, a lot of it is wasted and large gaps need to be left on the rectangular surface of the modules. They are not commonly available as solar modules for sale.
Multi crystalline Panels
These were developed after mono crystalline modules were found to be too expensive for consumer products and domestic use. They are produced from single casts of silicon already shaped to fit the panels. This effectively reduces the cost, but they are not as effective as the pure mono crystalline ones. However, for the nominal requirements in most urban and rural homes, this form is viable. Governments and international ecological agencies are working on educating the world on the advantages of this technology.
Ribbon Silicon Panels
Ribbon silicon is produced by drawing thin ‘wires’ or ‘ribbons’ from the molten cast. Most wholesale solar panels suppliers have ribbon silicon panels. There is minimal loss of pure silicon because the process does not involve any sawing or wastage during the shaping. However, ribbon silicon is also the least effective of all the methods used by the manufacturers around the world. They are quite useful to be used in low power products like toys, small gadgets, watches, calculators, and recently in laptops.
As the world works towards a better future, solar product manufacturers are working hard to keep up to the expectations. Governments have special arrangements and grants for such companies to encourage better usage of green technological advancements.
