Golf is considered one of the most interesting games that involve a lot of money in the modern day. Most of these games are played in clubs and the players are members of different clubs. If we are asked about the game, then one of the ways to describe this sport is; Golf is considered one the typical ball games. The player uses a golf stick to hit the ball. These games are generally played on huge grass lands. Unlike any other games golf does not require a standardized field. There are many holes in this land and each hole could just accommodate a ball inside. The player has to strike the ball from the place. The fewer the strikes he takes to insert the ball inside the hole, he is considered the winner of the game. Generally there are nine to twelve holes in a golf court. The player goes to strike the ball crossing each hole. The fastest is declared wins the shield. This place is played individually by a person. This is specifically an outdoor game.

If we look into the history of this game, it looks like this game has been very recently introduced and it originated only in the fifteenth century. However, there are still researches done about the history of this game and plenty of debates taking place with regard to its origin. However, one of the research study that this game existed in Europe when the Romans conquered the continent, during the first century BC. It is said that people in those has used to have a hooked stick. They also used a leather ball. Apart from these there were also other findings in many countries like China, England and this game were common to different people in different parts of the world and were known differently by names. For example in China the game was called as Chuiwan, it was known in England by name of Cambuca and Cambot in France, Chaugan in Persia and Kolven in Loenen and Netherlands. All these games resembled golf in the early period. Putting all these names aside the modern world has come up the name of ‘Golf’. However, if we look into the writing or early scriptures, this game was considered to be banned by James II in Scotland during the year 1457. The reason behind this is that James considered this game as an unwelcome distraction to learning archery.

Today, the rules of this game are changed with the introduction of many rules in place. This game is considered very unique and comes with a lot of respect. Not only this, it is considered one of the toughest games to be played. This is because the game involves calculations involved in it and having a good technique makes it even more influential. As we know the game is played on grasslands, these lands are not even. The modern games identify tougher lands and uneven lands to play to make the game even tougher. However, the holes are designed in a direct line of sight from the teeing area and some of these holes can be tilted either right or to its left. This is often called as the dogleg which is considered to be derived from the dog’s knee. Hence, based on whichever side the hole is bent it is called dogleg left or dogleg right. There are times when the hole may bend twice and in this case it is called the double dogleg. We can spend hours together watching golf and people who are interested in logic will have the patience to watch golf. Today, Golf is featured in many of our sports channels like the ESPN. I do spend some time watching the same on my television powered by Time Warner TV.
