You may think that a lawyer makes the best executor, but that is not always the case.

Being the executor of a will is an important job and it is also a difficult job. If you want to make sure that your best interests are kept in mind after you have passed away, then you need to find an executor that you can rely on. You need someone who does not mind making a lot of decisions and directing the activities of lawyers and accountants. A lawyer will be necessary in finalizing a lot of legal details, but it is not necessary to name an executor who is a lawyer. In reality, the best kind of executor is someone who is not a lawyer. A lawyer has a focused view on the legal aspects of your final arrangements while an executor who is not a lawyer would be better equipped to make the decisions that you would make.

An executor of wills is someone who needs to be very organized. One of the jobs of an executor is to collect all of the outstanding debts of the deceased and devising a plan to pay off that debt. The executor must work in conjunction with the insurance companies, credit card companies and other debtors to make sure that all of the bills addressed. The executor must also work to make sure that payments such as final paychecks are received into the deceased's estate and insurance death benefits are paid to the beneficiaries.

Being an executor of wills is not an easy job. It is something that requires a lot of attention to detail and a high level of consideration for the final wishes of the deceased. When you are choosing the executor of your estate, you need to make sure that you find a person who is trustworthy and knows you very well.
