Irish Claddagh rings are the tradition of expression of love towards the most valued lives around you since seventeenth century. The values and traditions evolved over this long time period so is the way of expressing love. Rings are one of the few accessories that never lose their value over the time and are still used as a solid expression of your feelings. Apart from marriages and ring ceremonies these valuable gift items are still popular among people. The only thing that has changed is the appearance but the token of expression stand solid amid other gift items.

Among the rings, Irish Claddagh rings have special place in the hearts of people. The tradition of Claddagh rings dates back to early 17th century. The customs and designs associated with these rings originated in an Irish fishing village named Claddagh which is located outside the city of Galway. Since then it is considered as the most valuable ring for expressing love and friendship. A typical design features heart in between the two hands. The heart often has a Roman crown over it. Earlier these were made of gold but now you can get it in platinum, silver and white gold too.

The symbolic token of expression shows feelings of love, friendship and loyalty towards receiver. The hands in the ring are symbolic expression of friendship, the heart expresses love and the crown in the ring symbolizes loyalty. These embedded feelings associated with Irish Claddagh rings makes them special gift item for the most loved persons in someone’s life. The Irish people use these rings especially for marriage and engagement purpose which makes the gift even more valuable if given to or received by someone.

There are different ways in which these rings can be sported which depends on the relationship between the giver and the receiver. Traditionally, there are three popular ways in which a ring can be adorned – On the right ring finger with the heart pointing to the finger tip, the same finger but the heart pointing other way around and on the left hand wedding ring finger. The first way shows the person is free of any attachments, the second way suggests that the person is romantically involved and the last one shows that the person is married or engaged. All the meaning and the history attached with the ring makes it a perfect gift that one either gives or receives once or twice in the lifetime. The original Irish Claddagh rings are made in Ireland by the traditional Irish craftsmen and sold by reputed and trusted jewelers. Though due to the global demands and acceptance of the values attached to the traditional rings there are various channels through which you can buy these specialized tokens of love.
