The Essence of Communication in your Life

By Mark Bennett Subscribe to RSS | February 21st 2012 | Views:

Assume a scenario which regularly happens in your daily life. You are having dinner with your family and you want to have the tasty salad which your wife has prepared. But the salad is kept next to your son’s plate and you cannot reach out and take it. So inevitably you ask your son to pass it to you.

In this situation, you communicated your need to your son. It is a part of effective communication. Unless you communicate to your son, or other family member, they won’t know your needs. They don’t have the premonition ability to know what you want and when you want. An effective communication can only occur if you communicate in a proper and standard way on what you want. Whether it is your personal or work life, communication plays a major role and it is one of the unavoidable things in life.

In your work life, there are situations where you have to convey your messages to others. You do need to tell and invoke your suggestions and feedback. Seriously, for the efficient and smooth running of the organization, you need to have this quality of effective communication. Communication does not mean passing normal unrelated words, but words and sentences that convey a message and ideas. It should not be bogus or unwanted and should be something important. It does not imply that it has to be work related as it can also be personal ones too.

There is no hard and fast rule that effective communication has to be always work related. The same is in the case of the place where it is communicated. It is not the golden rule to communicate your ideas and thoughts during a feedback session and meetings. You could communicate your precious and knowledgeable ideas at lunch breaks, coffee breaks, near water cooler and even in the restroom.

Seriously there is no dearth in places where you can communicate your ideas and views. It is like using the services of internet service provider like Charter Internet. Whether you’re an employee or team lead, you do need to communicate your thoughts and feelings. For the effective running of an organization and building a strong and team, you need to communicate your ideas about the project and the organization. In case, you don’t like something and you are not satisfied with certain policies of the organization, it would be much better to pour your heart out rather than bury it deep inside. This could cause frustration and ultimately lead to less interest in your work. You won’t feel like doing your work and how much challenging and interesting the work is, your mind gets depressed and agitated.

In case of your personal life, this effective communication plays a quite important role. It is one of the inevitable aspect on which your personal life depends. A good deep and understanding communication is what adds spice to your relationship with your partner. In any relationship, there should be trust and understanding. Seriously this trust and understanding are the major secret ingredient for a successful relationship. Without these two basic ingredients, your relationship has no chance of surviving. That is if you want to have a long term relationship.

For this trust and understanding to be in the relationship you need to effectively communicate with your partner. Try to communicate how you feel about the relationship and where you see the relationship going. It will give you a better understanding whether the relationship can be successful or not. The same can be said about the parent-child relationship. If you want to have a good relationship with your kids and know what they feel about you, communication plays a major part. You may sometimes need to know what your child is up to in life. We are naturally concerned parents. There is no doubt in it.

Communication irrespective of your personal and work life is very important and plays an avoidable role.
