Check out your real estate agent's history. A good realtor will provide you with the names and phone numbers of previous clients. Be sure to call them, and find out their experience with the realtor. A good question to ask is if they would list their home with the same agent in the future. If not, that may be a red flag.

An important tip to remember with real estate is to be sure to shop around for the perfect matching real estate agent for you. This is important because they are going to be an extremely important factor in possibly one of the biggest financial decisions of your life. Interview at least three different agents and go with who you mesh with the best, both with personality and goals.

Let the real estate agent know what you expect from them. It is important to make sure that you and your real estate agent are on the same page from the beginning. Make absolutely certain that your agent knows how often they should be expected to communicate the status of things with you.

Before you buy real estate, you should spend some time in the neighborhoods the at you are interested in. Locals there are usually going to tell you more about what really happens in the area than a real estate agent who is working on a commission that they only get if the deal closes.
