Although Alicante is known to be the famous tourist resort for its beaches but there is a lot more for the visitors as well other than beaches like monuments, historical churches and castles and above all the famous City Hall. Alicante Avuntamiento or City hall is known as the landmark of Alicante city. If you happen to be in Alicante then your holiday trip will complete only if you will visit this city symbol. City Hall was constructed during the 18th century and it is known for its extravagant architecture and design.

The front side of the City Hall is richly designed with the ornaments of different kind and colors and shapes like the spiral shape. The front balcony on the 1st floor of the building is long and worth watching. The building has its symmetry from each angle which is emphasized through the twin towers on every side.

The main access to the building is located in Plaza de Ayuntamiento Square. This square has many restaurants on the sides of the street and typical covered paths with a traditional Spanish style. The City Hall also hosts some splendid night festivals during June every year. The place is also famous for the bonfire festival which is held every year when Hogueras de San Juan ends.

The backside entrance to the City Hall is from the pleasant square called La Plaza de Santa Faz. The square is located in the famous old Town of Alicante along with walkways of the pedestrians and is an excellent place to rest and relax and watch the buzz of the old town. There are many restaurants under the City Hall building and you can have a lunch under the great surrounded atmosphere of the multi-colour building and the trees of Palm along the side ways.

When you will enter the City from the front entrance then you will find couple of monuments near the lowest stair case step. At the left of the staircase a recent statue is placed which is devoted to Salvador Dali, the famous painter and on the right side of the stair case the plate is placed which indicates the Zero level in Spain which is used to measure the altitude from the Sea level.

Other interesting places to watch are the room of Queen Isabel, Lateral Chapel and the Meeting Hall. The City Hall in Alicante is a real landmark to visit.
