Tips to install Ladder bars
Author: reikopena | Posted: 21.02.2012ladder bars are specially crafted to offer apt traction on the back wheels by proper weight transfer. This ladder bar prevents the hopping of wheels due to hard acceleration. In order to install the bar you must use a welding machine which generates a minimum of 130 amps for perfect penetration. But if you wish to install this on a leaf spring suspension you will require a floater for the axle housing that will prevent the binding. If it is a coil spring suspension all you need is a panard bar to position the centre line of the axle.
Follow the below mentioned tips to install ladder bars
Start by supporting the vehicle on the stand from all four sides. Now, to find the centre line, take a bob and hang it on the edge of the frame rail. Now make a mark on the floor. Take the bob and drag it to the farthest point of the frame and make a point on the ground. Now repeat the method on the other side.
Make the mark prominent by using a chalk line on both ends.
Grip a straight edge on top of the axle housing and against the tire. With the straightedge level and against the tire, mark the axle at this point. Now measure 1 inch inboard away from the tire and make another mark. Hang the plum from this spot and mark its position on the floor. Repeat this on the other side.
Now install the large bracket with holes for two bolts on the back section of the ladder bars and install the bolts and just snug the nuts down.
Finally get a long screw driver and fit the brackets properly. Put the rod through the spherical hole and line it up with the centre of the frame rail.
