Things to Do in Heidelberg
Author: DirectRooms1 | Posted: 30.11.2011When on holiday, finding things for the entire family to do can be difficult at first. However, Heidelberg offers a range of attractions for children as well as adults. For instance, take in the view of Heidelberg, its castle and beautiful surroundings by taking a walk along the Philosopher’s Way. There is plenty of seating if anyone gets tired or simply wants to sit and absorb the fantastic atmosphere. What’s more, walking along the Philosopher’s Way is absolutely free.
If you enjoy the fantastic views of Heidelberg, take a walk to the Carl Theodor Old Bridge across the river; it is especially pleasant at night. The bridge itself connects the old town with the more modern residential area. So if travellers are staying in one of the hotels in Heidelberg, it is a pleasant spot to walk off lunch, or enjoy a post-dinner stroll.
Those looking for something a little more energetic should visit Märchen Paradies Königstuhl. Described as fairytale paradise, it covers an area of some 48,000 square metres of woodland on the peak of the Königstuhl. It is situated to the south of Heidelberg, and is reasonably priced, with plenty of activities to occupy the children, including a playground and a trampoline.
Another attraction suitable for all ages is the Heidelberg Zoo. Built before 1934 it covers a site of around 800 square metres. As well as animals to see, there are a range of activities to occupy the kids. Finally, there are 12 museums in Heidelberg, including the Textile Museum for those that enjoy looking at changing fashions.
