Swansea might not be one of the world’s biggest cities but it certainly offers food from all over the world. Swansea hotels may not offer the most interesting of fare but travel a little further afield and you’ll find Welsh, Chinese, Thai and even typically American food. Luckily Swansea’s restaurants offer a wide enough a range to suit everyone’s budget so there is no excuse for spending the night eating standard hotel fare.

The city centre of Swansea has more than a hundred quality restaurants. These restaurants are located on Wind Street, where you will find theme bars and international cuisine. Go to High Street and Princess Way for quality Chinese food, and find excellent vegetarian food on Cradock Street.

For the absolute best in budget eating visitors are recommended to give Charlie’s Chowder a try. Situated on Prospect Place on Swansea’s Marina this restaurant is open until late and dishes up New England food at great prices. The Espresso Bar, opposite the railway station, is great for traditional British food as well as made to order sandwiches and baguettes. The Oriental Garden on Victoria Quay serves a rotation of Asian dishes depending on the night you visit.

The Grape & Olive is a good mid-priced restaurant that is located in the tallest building in Wales, offering good food with a wonderful view of central Swansea and the bay. Splurging eaters will enjoy Langland’s Brassiere on Brunfield Road, a modern incarnation of the classic British restaurant, which features a great view over Langland Bay. Slice is also recommended by locals who enjoy the locally sourced produce and ingredients that vary with the seasons.
