Surfing may not have been invented here in Australia but we’ve taken to it like a wet suit to water. In a country that is famous around the world for its pristine beaches and beautiful blue oceans, there are few better surfing destinations anywhere on the planet. All across Australia there are great surfing beaches but perhaps the most beautiful and most diverse are found right here in Queensland. We’ve even got a beach called Surfers Paradise, which should tell you everything you need to know. Just head south of Brisbane for about an hour and you’ll find this incredible surfing destination.

Of course, one of the things that makes Australia so great for surfing is the amount of space we have. On other beaches around the world, you might have to jostle for position. But with 50,000 km-plus of coastline, we’re never short of a few waves. This, of course, does mean that you have to get there. And that’s when having the right car is important. A rugged SUV, like those manufactured by Jeep, Dodge or Chrysler, will have enough driving power to get you where you’re going. They will also have enough room for your board and any other gear you need to take with you. Just like surfing, the SUV may not have been invented here but can you imagine anything being more suited to our landscape and lifestyle?

If it really is some secluded surfing you’re looking for, jump in a used Jeep Grand Cherokee, keep Brisbane in your rear view mirror and head north through Rothwell to northern Queensland. Right up near the Great Barrier Reef, you’ll find some of the best surfing spots anywhere on earth. Beaches so secluded you might have the whole thing to yourself. Again, if you’ve got the driving power of an SUV, this is going to vastly increase your chances of finding these little secret spots.
