Skilled worker Canada is for workers who are assessed to have the education, skills and ability to successfully establish themselves in Canada. Skilled worker are assessed on the basis of specific criteria to meet the labor market needs and take into account factor such as age, occupation, work experience, education, ability in English or French, ability to adopt in Canada. Also you need to prove you have enough money to settle in Canada including funds for dependants. Skilled workers are also immigrant who practice occupations in high demand and are selected by immigration officials as potential permanent residents and citizens.

This program is designed to ensure Canada maintains a highly skilled workforce that contributes to Canada economy. The Canadian government places annual restrictions on how many foreigners may enter into Canada as skilled workers without a job offer. Currently there is a 10, 000 application cap for all eligible occupations and also a cap of 500 applications per eligible occupation type or NOC code.

Applications for the skilled worker are only approved if the applicant meets all the criteria and submits the form, supporting documents, fees, evidence and the applications free form error. If you do not have the minimum points required, you may still apply as a federal skilled worker. You can apply for Canadian citizenship after being in Canada a skilled worker for 3 years.

Work permit Canada is for foreign workers who have a genuine offer of employment from a Canadian employer. The employer must get approval by HRSDC before they can bring foreign workers to Canada. Work permit are temporary and when it expires, you will either need to leave Canada, extend your visa or apply under a different immigration category. Human resources and social development Canada HRSDC must approve an employer application for a Labour market opinion LMO before the foreign worker can be approved for a work permit by citizenship and immigration Canada. Most worker require a permit and LMO to work in Canada, however some workers don’t require LMO only a permit

Before a work permit Canada is approved the following is considered:

• The job is genuine

• The wages and working conditions are comparable to those offered to Canadians working in the occupation

• Employers conducted reasonable efforts to hire or train Canadians for the job

• The foreign worker is filling a Labour shortage

• The employment of the foreign worker will directly create new job opportunities or help retain jobs for Canadians.

• The foreign worker will transfer new skills and knowledge to Canadians

• The hiring of the worker will not affect a Labour dispute
