With the progress of time, the popularity of the dot matrix printer in the corporate sector is on a wane. But they are still inevitable to work with especially for printing on carbon copies. The main reason for its downfall is the number of problems that sprung up while using and due to their less availability, there are very few people who know how to troubleshoot them. Thus, it always helps to know some ways of solving simple dot matrix printer issues.

The paper jam is the most common issue faced by people while working with dot matrix printer, or as a matter of fact any printer. What actually happens is that the papers get stuck under the rollers while printing and the process of printing gets stuck. This may also happen when the connection between the paper and the tractor feed in terminated due to some reason..

Another common problem regarding the working of the dot matrix printer is the appearance of white lines in between texts or graphics. This will mean that there is some problem with the print head, more probably the stoppage of working of a certain pin or more. This can be solved by cleaning the pin heads properly with alcohol or otherwise may require installing a new print head.

Another issue occurring with the dot matrix printer is the proper movement of the printer carriage with the output coming as blank only. This will indicate the drying up or absence of ink ribbon. One should properly check whether the ribbon is aptly installed or not. If the printing output is coming as rubbish only, then try to print some regular texts. If the problem persists with appearance of blank lines in between the texts, you should simply toggle the dip switch which will rectify the problem.
