Professional Printing Capabilities
Author: ambrosewright | Posted: 08.05.2012Home printing presses, or printers, have become so advanced that people rarely use the services of professional printers anymore. However, professional printing does have its advantages, and depending on what you’re having printed, professional printing may be your best option. For business cards, wedding invitations, banners and other print materials, consider the advantages of professional printing:
Sizing: Most home printers are limited in the sizes they can print. With professional printing, the sky is the limit. Most professional printers, like Heidelberg presses, offer large-scale printing and scanning options, so anything from a large banner to a small business card can be printed with accuracy.
Treatments: When you use professional printing presses and services, you’ll be able to choose the finish, treatments and coats you want applied to your final printed product. Aqueous coats, matte finishes and various varnishes can be added to any printed product. This service is especially nice for photographs or banners that contain large images.
Perforations: If you need something printed that includes perforations, professional printing is the way to go. It can be very difficult to add perforations to items you print at home, but professional printers do it all the time. They have the machinery, such as Heidelberg presses, and technology to position the perforations perfectly on the page, giving you peace of mind that it will be done correctly.
Binding: While some binding can be done in the home, binding machines can be expensive and they can sometimes be difficult to operate. Instead of wasting copy after copy with poor binding attempts, take your copies to a professional, as they’ll be able to perform this service with ease and precision. Binding can make reading long documents more manageable and can come in various forms including coils, combs, strips and books.
Die cuts: Lastly, professional printing presses offer die cutting, a service that allows customers to cut their printed material into any sort of shape or size. Home printers are unable to do this type of cutting, and while there is die cutting equipment available for sale, the retail equipment rarely matches the quality and precision of professional die cutting equipment.
So, the type of materials you need printed will ultimately determine whether or not you will use the services of a professional printer. For everyday printing, a home printing press will do the trick, but for your other printing needs, taking your items to a professional printer is probably your best bet.
