Linz Things to Do

Whether you are visiting just for a weekend or spending a week or more in Linz, you will not run out of things to do.

The Linz Zoo has over 800 animals and is located half-way up the Pöstlingberg – a guaranteed hit with the children. Enjoy some authentic cinema at either the Moviemento or the City Cinema – these show non-mainstream films with German subtitles so it is a great way to indulge in some culture. To catch a more mainstream film, the Cineplexx is located in the harbour.

Visit the “Culture Mile” along the River Danube, which starts at the Brucknerhaus Concert Hall and stretches all the way to the Ars Electronica Centre. For a great venue for dance, modern music and comedy performances, the Posthof is located near the port and is bound to have something to interest you.

Of course there are also many great shopping areas, beautiful walks and stunning scenery, and some lovely venues where you can relax and just take in the city’s atmosphere. Try the Cup 'n' Cino, a franchise just off the Hauptplatz where you can enjoy the laid-back vibe and comfy sofas both in the day and the evening. For a great Irish pub, the Chelsea can also be found here, the perfect pub in which to watch sport on TV.

There are some great hotels in Linz and many are centrally located so that you will be able to experience the true city life and be right at the heart of the action.
