Preparing for prom can be overwhelming. Not only must you plan for the day of, you also have a number of other tasks that need to be accomplished, weeks, if not months in advance to the actual prom date. No need to panic! Just like with any other momentous event, the key is to keep yourself organized so you don’t forget anything at the last minute. Here are some steps of how and when to complete each prom task.

Shopping for Prom Dresses

Ideally, you will want to cross, “Shop Prom Dresses” off your list at least 2 months prior to the big event. Do your research and figure out what style you’d like of prom dresses. Shop around for what you are interested in and while doing it 2 months in advance may seem early, it will give you time to change your mind if the formal prom dresses are no longer catching your eye. Take someone you trust, like your mom or a group of girlfriends while you shop. Prom dresses come in all shapes and styles and it can be difficult to make the decision of formal prom dresses or more casual prom dresses on your own.

Book your Nail/Hair/Makeup Appointment

This should ideally be done about 2 months prior as well. Although this may be one of your most special nights, you have to remember that many other people are having their proms around the same time. Booking your makeup and hair appointments in advance will give you time to see what style of each you’d like to go with and which complement the prom dresses you’ve picked out.

Coordinate Your Prom Dress with Your Date

You’ve picked out your dress, had it altered and made any other adjustments that it called for. Now it’s time to coordinate with your date. Whether you want to match your prom dress with your date or not, make sure that you have all your accessories, shoes and jewelry picked out about a month prior to the big night.

Go to Your Appointments and Get Ready!

It’s finally the big day. You’ve had your appointments booked 2 months in advance; you have your shoes, jewelry, and prom dress already to go. Last thing to do now is make sure you have all your prom essentials in your clutch/purse. Make sure before you leave the house, you have lip gloss, perfume, dental floss, deodorant, cash and aspirin, in case it’s needed.

You are now prepared and ready to go. Preparing for your perfect night may seem overwhelming at first, but with a handy to do list, it will seem a like a breeze!
