When you holiday in Ho Chi Minh City today, you will be hard pressed to see any evidence that this was once the war-ravaged city of Saigon from the Vietnam War era. It is completely modernised as well as a metropolis that is busy both day and night. As far as attractions to experience while you are on holiday in the city, any of the Ho Chi Minh hotels that you stay at will have plenty of information regarding what to see while you are visiting the former South Vietnamese capital city.

Cholon (Chinatown) – Chinatown was originally established in 1879 as a separate entity until it was incorporated in 1931 by the French colonial government. There are numerous sights here such as the Binh Tay Market, the Cholon Mosque, and the Thien Hau Pagoda.

Ben Thanh Market – originally built in 1859, the market was destroyed by the French when they invaded Ho Chi Minh City. The market is very well organised and you can find everything from handicrafts to t-shirts.

Quoc Tu Pagoda – situated adjacent to a children’s amusement park, the seven-story structure was constructed in 1962. It is surrounded by gardens and lakes and offers visitors a chance to see statues of the Buddha within this beautiful shrine.

Assorted Museums – there are a number of museums in Ho Chi Minh City that are worth visiting such as the Fine Art Museum, the History Museum, the Revolutionary Museum, and the War Remnants Museum, all of which should be on your schedule.
