If you want to get just the bare minimum, the chemicals, filters, and perhaps a cover lifter will be fine. As you spend more time in your hot tub, you'll want to get other supplies to enhance the experience and you can gradually collect some of these things over time from your nearest hot tub dealer.

Hot tub chemicals

Jacuzzi hot tubs need chemicals to stay running smoothly and prolong their lifespan. These chemicals kill germs and keep the water balanced so it isn't too chlorinated (which can be harmful to eyes and skin), but it also doesn't contain bacteria. Chlorine, bromine, alkaline, pH increasing and decreasing chemicals, shock treatment, stain control, and defoamer are just some of the types of chemicals you can buy to make sure the water in your hot tub and the surface stay clean.

Hot tub accessories

Depending on how you use the hot tub, you can get a variety of accessories to spruce it up. Some popular hot tub accessories include floating thermometers – either plain or in fun designs like plastic dolphins – and chlorinators, hot tub monitors to take care of monitoring chemical levels, fragrances to overpower the chlorine scent and leave you smelling fresh, pillows, LED lights, trays to hold drinks and snacks, and more.

Hot tub filters

This is one of the most important features of your hot tub, so it's important to keep the filter running smoothly at all times. Filters will keep your water clean and free of germs and other contaminants, but they need to be replaced on a regular basis. You will need to check your hot tub owner's manual and refer to the model number to figure out exactly which filter you need and how often it should be replaced, as they all vary in size and specifications. They are usually easy to change and relatively inexpensive, but it's worth having a spare disposable filter on hand.

Cover lifters

It's one of the hardest and most annoying parts of getting your hot tub ready, though. A hot tub cover can be bulky and even dangerous when dropped, and it can pick up dirt and bits that contaminate your pool water.
