Modern industrial machinery makes use of different devices to function properly. Without the use of these devices it would be difficult for them to operate. Electromagnets are components which find their usage in different devices and for various industrial applications. Electromagnets are used in the car’s electrical system where they are used to generate electricity in the form of direct current to power windshield wipers, lights and the dashboard display. Even these magnets find their use in cooling fans, doorbells and speakers. It is with the help of these magnets that long distance communications are possible. They are used in the speakers and microphones and also used in generators to convert mechanical energy into electrical. The ability of these magnets to turn their magnetism on and off instantly makes them one of the most widely used component in modern electronic devices.

Made from coils of wire that carry electricity these magnets become magnetic when the electricity flows and retains its magnetism when it stops. Electromagnets is also helpful for industrial applications as it is used to lift heavy objects and also sort out metals. The MRI machine used in hospitals even makes use of these magnetic features to create the computer images. As they have superconducting wire hence they are also highly reliable. These magnets have clean environments and vibration control features. They can even function under extreme temperatures as well as corrosive fluids and pressure. These magnets can also manipulate the magnetic fields in different ways by raising, lowering or switching off the current. Easier to make these magnets are widely demanded due to their physical characteristics and features. These magnets are available in different sizes and accordingly modified and use for various industrial applications.

However if this magnetic component is attached to a battery as a power source and the positive and negative terminals are reversed then the electric current will flow through the wire in the opposite direction causing the poles to reverse. It would then start repelling objects instead of attracting it. This concept is also used in certain devices where it is required to attract and repel the objects on a continuous basis. It helps in making the job easier and efficient and hence finds its usage in different industries and applications.
