Check the magic of the smtp servers in your emails
Author: leerio | Posted: 14.02.2012The internet is an integral part of life these days. In fact it is such a part and parcel of our lives that it is really difficult to think of life without the internet. All kinds of communications have become much easier via the internet like the sending and the receiving of the emails happen within a few seconds. But have you ever wondered as to how such a thing happens behind the back end of the internet? There is a very interesting story of great technological advancement which makes the sending and receiving of emails possible via the SMTP server.
The main communication occurs through the internet with the help of the client server connectivity. Whenever an email is sent, the system gets connected to the mail server which is a centralized computer that is located in a remote location and manages some specific services. The email server smtp is responsible for sending the mails. This software passes the mail to the destination mail server so that the mail reaches its receiver through several processes.
You are well aware that the email usually has a sender’s address as well as the recipient’s address. Thus when you send an email, the client makes a connection with the email smtp server of the sender’s system and then transmit the sender’s as well as the receiver’s address along with the message within the email. Once this basic step is over, the smtp locates the domain of the receiver and transfers the mail into the receiver’s account.
The domain is nothing but the unique web address that is also known as the internet protocol address or the IP address. A link between the IP address and the matching domain name is already stored in the domain name registry of the computer. The smtp server connects with the DNS and gets the address. Once the email address is confirmed, the server makes sure that the email is transferred to the POP3 or the IMAP server. These servers, on the other hand, stores the emails until the recipient logs in with the help of his username and the password to check his mails.
Thus it can be safely said that communication is possible with the help of smtp on the internet. These days this server is also used for the purpose of the internet marketing process as well. Now that you know the story behind it, you have become more knowledgeable.
