Camping – Being Close to Nature and Enjoying a Peaceful Outdoor Life
Author: markbennett | Posted: 21.12.2011Camping is one activity that I usually prefer to do once in every six months. But it’s a question of how many people like to do that these days. It feels so great and nice to be close to the nature and far away from the fast paced city life and the concrete jungles. Sleeping peacefully under the protection of Mother Nature with no latest technology or gizmos around you would be a different experience for many. The feeling undoubtedly cannot be explained and can only be known when you experience it by yourself.
Last weekend I went to the Sequoia Natural Park located in the southern Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. The park was so beautiful and had a lot of trees, plants and shrubs. I came to know that the park is famous for its giant sequoia trees, including the General Sherman tree. This General Sherman tree is one of the largest trees in the world.
Besides having the giant sequoia trees as one of the attractions, the park has other major attractions like Tunnel Log, which is a tunnel made from a fallen giant sequoia tree; then there is the Crescent Meadow, a small meadow made of sequoia plants; the Moro Rock which is a huge granite dome; and lastly the three beautiful camping sites. Having all these attractions has lead to a large number of campers camping in this park throughout the year. If you want go to this park for camping, you need to make reservations up to five months in advance and the best suitable time for camping is from mid May to mid October.
The three campsites Lodgepole, Azalea and Buckeye have breathtaking views and are enjoyable. All these campsites have drinking water facilities as the water that flows from the Sierra Nevada mountainous range is so pure that you don’t need to think twice before drinking it. There are even chairs, fire grills, garbage cans and clean toilets in each of these campsites. The garbage cans are bear proof, so the smell of the dumped food does not attract the bear. You can have grilled food and enjoy a peaceful dinner time with your family.
The maximum number of days you can stay in the campsite is fourteen days. In these fourteen days, you can enjoy the major attractions of the park or go for hiking, fishing, and also swimming in the lake. The park is also home to a large number of caves numbering to around 240. Most of the largest caves of California are found here. Lilbum Cave, which is the first largest cave, is located in this park is over twenty miles and is off the limit for campers and hikers. There are other caves, which were recently discovered but they are also off the limits as you may want to go into them with an experienced ranger or a guide. The only cave opened for visitors is the Crystal Cave, which is the second largest cave in California. This cave has an abundance of limestone rock formation and is huge. Most of the campers and hikers get spellbound with the structure and the interior limestone design formation. The design of the limestone almost resembles like a chandelier hanging down beautifully.
At night, you can enjoy the cool breeze, giving you a peaceful chill feeling. Sometimes you can even hear the hooting of the owl and sounds of other animals giving you a feeling of being in the wild. You may also enjoy sleeping under the moon, watching the beautiful stars trying to convey a message through their beautiful design patterns.
So I recommend people who have never gone for camping to try this outdoor recreational activity and enjoy the beauty of the nature. Just forget about your busy city life and have a peaceful life under the protective hands of our mother. If you are concerned about the security of your home or business, just leave it to the experts who can take a very good care of your house with some security service providers like ADT Security Systems.
