Arrest in New Years Day Abortion Clinic Fire in Florida
Author: hmacgibbon08 | Posted: 28.01.2012Bobby Joe Rogers, 41, is being held at the Escambia County Jail, after being arrested for setting fire to a Pensacola Florida abortion center Sunday January 1, 2012.
After a joint investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations and the Joint Terrorism Task Force, officers arrested that Rogers of Tuscaloosa, Ala., for setting fire to the clinic and causing approximately $300,000 in damages.
“Members of the community came forward with information that ultimately led to the arrest of Rogers, who is being held at the Escambia County Jail pending a federal indictment by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” according the a press release. Rogers could face up to 20 years in prison.
This fire is just one incident in a long history of attacks against the Pensacola clinic in the last 30 years which include the murder of Doctor Britton in 1994 on his way to work, and the bombing of the clinic in 1984.
This violence comes at the beginning of an election years in which Abortion will be at the forefront of the political scene. In Florida alone the legislature will be facing seven abortion related bills when it comes back into session for 2012.
