Ao Nang Things to Do
Author: DirectRooms1 | Posted: 29.11.2011Koh Phi Phi Snorkelling
The best destination for snorkelling is Phi Phi, a fair distance from the hotels in Ao Nang by speedboat. It is an interesting day out as seven different stops are made for snorkelling and sightseeing. The trip is not ideal for children under 12 due to the frequent stops and changes, so it is recommended families take the Koh Hong snorkelling speedboat trip instead.
Kayaking
For those who want only gentle kayaking it is recommended to take the Kayak Bor Thor Tour, which includes cave exploring and the opportunity for swimming and relaxation. Further gentle kayaking can be had on the Kayak Koh Hong trip where you will explore mangrove swamps and relax on the dazzling white sands of Koh Hong’s beach. Most kayaking can be done on the Kayak Ao Thalene daytrip with a full hour’s kayaking in the morning through the large coastal mangrove swamp. After lunch more kayaking is available or visitors can spend the afternoon swimming.
Diving
With some of the most stunning landscapes in Thailand, from dizzying limestone cliffs crowned with jungles and palm trees to glorious white sandy beaches, there are many diving sites around Ao Nang. Divers can enjoy and explore the beautiful corals and the gently sloping reefs and caves, and abundant diversity of marine life. They are some of the easiest dives in Thailand and are ideal for those starting to learn to dive. Within easy reach are three exceptional mid-Andaman dive sites: King Cruiser Wreck, Anemone Reef and the Shark Point Marine Sanctuary.
