Wearing glasses are quite common these days. While some use it for fashion purpose, most have the purpose to correct their vision problem. The latter are mostly referred to as eyeglasses. These can be divided into 4 different categories (according to the type of lens used). Have a look at them in details:

Concave: Those people who suffer from myopia are prescribed specs with concave lens. Myopia is a syndrome that makes the distant vision appears blurred. However, any object present closely in a clear, proper manner.

Convex: Those people who suffer from hyperopia are prescribed specs with convex lens. Hyperopia is a syndrome that makes the nearer vision appears blurred. However, the distant objects can be seen in a clear, proper manner.

Cylindrical: Those people who suffer from Astigmatism are prescribed specs with cylindrical lens. Astigmatism is a syndrome that takes place due to non-uniform curvature within the refractive areas of the eye. This results in a peculiar and inappropriate visioning. While a part of light ray is focused within the retina, the remaining part behind it.

Bifocal: People suffering from Presbyopia are prescribed specs with bifocal lens. In this syndrome, the near objects appear in a certain aged manner. This syndrome is more common for people who are over forty years of age.

In addition, another variant is commonly referred to as reading glasses. This type of a glass is quite slim in looks and is used specifically for reading purpose. They act as a magnifier and allow a person to go through the pages of newspaper or magazines in a proper manner, without facing any difficulty.

These days, contact lenses are more preferred option than glasses. The reason is obviously the absence of frames that often transform the appearance of the face. Moreover, contact lenses are said to be the best option for people with higher vision power requirement.
